With the first and second place in the KNHS/Van den Boogaard league for young riders, plus a victory in the small tour, we can say that Doron Kuipers had a brilliant day in Ermelo yesterday.
"The course didn’t seem too difficult when I walked it, but during the competition there were only three clear rounds. So, it was technically difficult enough”, said Doron Kuipers, who jumped clear with two horses. With Zinius (by Nabab de Rêve) he was the first in the jump-off, in which all three combinations went clear again. "I wanted a smooth ride to put pressure on Robin van de Wetering as we were ranked equal first in the VdB ranking", said Kuipers afterwards. Robin van de Wetering rode a safe round with Untoucheble (by Baloubet du Rouet). Doron Kuipers was faster with Laos (by Caos) and finished as runner-up with this new horse.
In the small tour, open for young riders and juniors with their upcoming horses, Doron Kuipers won again. This time with Big Ben (by Cantos). "Big Ben is huge and has a big stride. You couldn’t make tight turns, this course suited him", said the successful rider.
