The 80th edition of Youhorse.auction came to an international close on Wednesday, 7 October. During the second evening of the October Auction, the highest bid was placed on Explosive van Koningshof (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof x Voltaire), who was sold to China for €38,000. Across both auction evenings, horses found new owners in no fewer than 25 different countries, from destinations across Europe to buyers on the other side of the world.
Six-year-old gelding Explosive van Koningshof not only boasts an impressive pedigree by Emerald van ’t Ruytershof, but also comes from a mare who competed at 1.60m level herself. This combination of proven sport genetics and potential appealed to buyers from China, who ultimately added the gelding to their stable.
AS Gangster (Coupe de Coeur x Escudo I) was also among the most sought-after horses of the final evening. The ten-year-old gelding is heading to the United States. The winning bid for most popular three-year-old stallion Empire State (Ermitage Kalone x Concetto) came from Spain.
From Europe to Asia
The international reach of this anniversary edition was particularly striking. Over the two auction evenings, horses were sold to buyers in a total of 25 countries. In addition to destinations across Europe, buyers from countries including China, Japan, India, Mexico, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates found their way to the online auction.
“It remains special to see just how far our horses travel around the world,” says organiser Mario Everse. “Over two evenings, we reached buyers from 25 countries, including destinations you do not encounter at every auction. That makes this 80th edition extra special. It shows that there is worldwide demand for quality showjumping horses, from young talents to horses that are already further along in their training.”
The performances of horses previously sold through Youhorse.auction are also a source of satisfaction for the organisation. At the recent World Breeding Championships for Young Jumping Horses in Lanaken, no fewer than twelve former Youhorse.auction horses took part.
“That is at least as important to us as the sales results,” Everse emphasises. “You want the horses to find the right homes after the auction and continue to develop. Seeing them subsequently compete at a championship such as Lanaken is a great confirmation of the talent being offered through our platform.”
Selection days for Autumn auction
Following the anniversary edition, the next auction is already just around the corner. Youhorse.auction will organise its Autumn auction on Tuesday, 3 November. The video and selection days will take place on Monday, 12 October and Tuesday, 13 October.
“We are already looking for the next interesting horses,” Everse concludes. “From young jumping talents with a bright future ahead of them to experienced sport horses that are ready to compete. Once again, we want to put together a collection that will excite buyers. Anyone who wants to bring their horse to the attention of an international audience can register for the selection days.”
